How to Fix an Unstable Flame in Alfa Gas Ovens

Fix an unstable flame in your Alfa gas oven by checking the gas supply, regulator, burner, and ventilation. Troubleshoot issues and optimize performance.

If your Alfa gas oven has a weak, irregular, or flickering flame, or if it goes out frequently, there may be an issue with the gas supply, pressure regulator, or ventilation. Follow this guide to diagnose and resolve the problem.

1. Check the Gas Supply

💡 Verify the LPG Cylinder or Natural Gas Connection

Low or Empty Gas Cylinder

  • If the gas level is low, the pressure drops, causing an unstable flame.
Solution: Replace the gas cylinder with a full one and test again.

Partially Opened or Blocked Valve

  • If the valve is not fully open, gas flow may be restricted, causing flame instability.
Solution: Ensure the gas valve is fully open.

Low Natural Gas Pressure (Methane Connection)

  • If the oven shares the gas line with other appliances (e.g., boiler, stove), the flow may drop when multiple devices are in use.
Solution: Avoid using multiple gas appliances at the same time.

2. Check the Pressure Regulator

The pressure regulator ensures a constant gas flow.

Incorrect or Faulty Regulator

  • An incompatible or defective regulator may cause too high or too low pressure.
Solution: Use the regulator recommended by Alfa, matching your fuel type (LPG or methane).

Obstructions in the Regulator or Gas Hose

  • Dirt, moisture, or blockages in the hose may restrict gas flow.
    Solution:
✅ Check that the hose and regulator are not bent, twisted, or blocked.
✅ If the hose is old, replace it with a certified gas hose.

3. Inspect the Burner

A dirty or misaligned burner may cause a weak or inconsistent flame.

Dirt or Residue Buildup on the Burner
Solution:
✅ Turn off the oven and let it cool completely.
✅ Clean the burner holes with a soft brush or compressed air to remove debris.

Misaligned or Damaged Burner
Solution:
✅ Ensure the burner is properly positioned and secured.
✅ If the problem persists, consider replacing the burner.

4. Check for Wind or Ventilation Issues

Strong Wind Exposure

  • If the oven is placed in a windy area, the flame may flicker or go out.
    Solution:
Relocate the oven to a sheltered area.
✅ Use windshields to protect the burner if necessary.

Improper Fume Exhaust System

  • If the chimney is clogged or too short, it can affect airflow and cause flame instability.
    Solution:
✅ Make sure the chimney is free of blockages and follows installation guidelines.

5. Analyze the Flame Color

The flame’s color provides important clues about combustion quality.

Blue Flame with Light Yellow Tips → 🔹 Optimal Combustion
Yellow/Orange Flame → 🔹 Imbalanced Air-Gas Mixture or Ventilation Issue
Solution:
✅ Check the ventilation system.
✅ Clean the burner and regulator.

Weak or Extinguished Flame → 🔹 Gas Flow Problem
Solution: Follow the steps above to check gas supply, pressure, and burner condition.
