Precautions for Indoor Installations
Ensure safe indoor installation of your Alfa oven by following key ventilation, safety distances, and chimney requirements. Check certifications!
Installing an Alfa oven indoors requires special attention to safety and compliance with local regulations. Follow these key precautions to ensure safe and optimal use of your oven.
1️⃣ Check Certifications
Not all Alfa ovens are designed for indoor use. Before installation, verify the certification of your oven based on your geographical area.
✔️ Certified Ovens for Indoor Use:
✅ URBE Electric Oven → Certified for indoor use, making it the ideal choice for kitchens or other enclosed environments.
✔️ Gas & Wood Ovens:
🔹 North America (UL Certification):
- Some UL-certified models can be installed indoors, but only if connected to an adequate exhaust system.
🔹 Europe & Other Countries (CE Certification):
- Indoor use is NOT permitted for gas and wood-fired ovens, except in technical rooms with a certified fume extraction system.
📌 Always check the user manual for certification details and usage conditions.
2️⃣ Ventilation & Fume Extraction Requirements
If your oven is certified for indoor use, you must ensure proper ventilation and an effective fume evacuation system.
🔹 Electric Ovens (URBE)
✔️ Require proper airflow to dissipate heat generated during operation.
✔️ Avoid placing it in completely enclosed spaces without natural or forced ventilation.
🔹 Gas Ovens (Where Allowed)
✔️ Must be connected to a certified double-wall chimney.
✔️ The chimney must extend at least 1 meter above the roofline or any obstacle.
✔️ The room must have permanent ventilation openings to ensure a constant air supply.
🔹 Wood-Fired Ovens (Where Allowed)
✔️ Require a chimney system similar to a fireplace.
✔️ Must have a properly installed high-draft chimney to prevent smoke accumulation indoors.
✔️ Avoid installing the oven in small rooms or spaces without adequate ventilation.
📌 Consult a qualified technician to verify that your installation meets local regulations.
3️⃣ Safety Distances & Surrounding Materials
Indoor installation requires precise clearance distances to prevent overheating or accidental fires.
✔️ Minimum Safety Distances from Flammable Materials:
✅ At least 20 cm (8 inches) from walls or furniture made of wood or plastic.
✅ At least 50 cm (20 inches) between the chimney and any combustible materials.
✅ At least 100 cm (40 inches) of free space above the oven to allow for proper heat dissipation.
✔️ Recommended Materials for Surroundings:
✅ Fire-resistant walls (Concrete, refractory bricks, or steel).
✅ Heat-resistant flooring to prevent damage or fire hazards.
4️⃣ Power & Gas Supply Requirements
If installing an URBE electric oven or a gas oven, ensure your power or gas supply is compatible with the technical specifications of your model.
🔹 Electric Ovens (URBE)
✔️ Ensure that your electrical system supports the power load required by the oven.
✔️ Check the type of electrical outlet required and if an adapter or direct connection is needed.
🔹 Gas Ovens
✔️ For Natural Gas (Methane) → Verify the gas pressure and flow rate to ensure sufficient supply, especially if other appliances (boilers, stoves) share the same line.
✔️ For LPG (Propane) Tanks → Position them in a well-ventilated area, away from heat sources.
5️⃣ Maintenance & Safety Checks
An indoor-installed oven requires regular maintenance to ensure efficiency and safety.
✔️ Chimney Cleaning (If Applicable):
- Regularly remove soot and residues to prevent blockages.
✔️ Draft Control:
- If smoke accumulates indoors, check that the chimney is clear and working properly.
✔️ Room Ventilation:
- After use, keep the room ventilated to remove any residual smoke or odors.
