What is the butterfly valve and when should you use it?
The butterfly valve is an essential accessory for adjusting chimney draft. It is installed inside the flue pipe and allows you to regulate the airflow exiting the oven, optimizing combustion and internal temperature.

✔ Useful when the flue exceeds 1 meter or includes bends
✔ Essential when installing under raised covers (pergolas, roofs), ensuring proper smoke exhaust

The butterfly valve is recommended for Alfa wood-fired ovens and in some cases for gas ovens, especially when:
- the chimney is longer than the standard one supplied
- there are bends in the flue
- the oven is installed under pergolas or shelters
- you want finer draft control to optimize fuel consumption
📌 Not required for URBE electric ovens.

🛠️ How is it installed?
The butterfly valve should be installed in the vertical part of the flue, preferably:
- after the first meter of height
- before any bends or joints
- in an easily accessible position to adjust it manually
📌 Installation should be done by a qualified technician to ensure proper smoke evacuation and compliance with safety regulations.
💡 When is it truly useful?
- If the oven struggles to maintain consistent temperature, especially in windy conditions
- If combustion is too fast or unstable
- If the flue is long or has deviations
- To achieve more controlled and even cooking, especially with wood-fired ovens
