# How to Connect EVO to Gas and Use the Bottom Gas Connection

## Learn how the Alfa Forni EVO gas connection works, which gas types are supported, how to use the rear or bottom gas connection, and which safety precautions must be followed for proper installation.

### 🔥 Which Types of Gas Can EVO Use?

The Alfa Forni EVO oven is designed to operate with the following gas types:

- **LPG (G30/G31):** liquefied petroleum gas, generally supplied in gas cylinders.
- **Natural gas (G20):** gas supplied through a natural gas distribution network.

The oven configuration must be compatible with the gas type being used, as specified on the product identification plate.

**Important:** Before connecting the oven, always check the gas category and supply pressure specified for the appliance and the country of installation.

Do not modify the oven's gas configuration yourself.

### 🔧 Where Is EVO's Gas Connection Located?

EVO offers two gas connection options:

- **Rear gas connection:** the standard configuration supplied with the oven.
- **Bottom gas connection:** an alternative configuration that allows the gas supply to be routed through the lower part of the oven.

Both configurations use the oven's gas supply system. The only difference is the direction in which the connection is routed.

The possibility of choosing between a rear and bottom gas connection is one of the features of EVO's **Outdoor Kitchen Ready** concept, designed to make installation in outdoor kitchens easier.

### 🏡 What Are the Advantages of the Bottom Gas Connection?

The bottom gas connection is particularly useful when EVO is installed:

- On a countertop designed to accommodate a gas hose.
- On a modular outdoor kitchen unit.
- As part of an outdoor kitchen project requiring a neat and discreet installation.

Routing the gas supply from below reduces the visibility of the connection at the rear of the oven, allowing for a cleaner integration into the outdoor kitchen.

The chosen configuration must always comply with the applicable safety, ventilation and accessibility requirements for the gas installation.

### 🛠️ How Do You Prepare EVO for the Bottom Gas Connection?

EVO is supplied with a **90° elbow fitting**, allowing the pre-installed straight connector to be replaced and the gas connection to be directed downwards.

According to the user manual, the procedure involves:

1. Removing the gas compartment cover, secured by four screws.
2. Removing the pre-installed straight connector.
3. Checking the sealing of the threaded connection.
4. Installing the 90° elbow fitting, directing it downwards.
5. Reinstalling the gas compartment cover.
6. Connecting the gas supply and subsequently checking for leaks.

**Warning: These operations must be carried out exclusively by qualified personnel**, using sealing materials suitable for gas fittings and complying with applicable regulations.

After completing the installation, a gas leak test must be performed before using the oven.

The 90° elbow fitting only changes the direction of the gas connection. It does not change the type of gas for which the oven is configured.

### 🔥 How Do You Connect EVO to an LPG Cylinder?

For LPG operation, the EVO user manual specifies:

- A **gas cylinder with a capacity of at least 10 kg**.
- A **gas pressure regulator with a flow capacity of at least 4 kg/h**.
- A supply pressure compatible with the oven's configuration and the regulations applicable in the country of use.

The connection must be carried out and checked by qualified personnel.

The gas cylinder must be positioned in accordance with safety instructions and kept away from the oven's hot surfaces.

Do not store unused gas cylinders in the immediate vicinity of the oven.

**Important:** The regulator's flow capacity, expressed in kg/h, is different from the operating pressure, expressed in mbar. Both parameters must be suitable for the system being used.

### 🔥 How Do You Connect EVO to a Natural Gas Supply?

For operation with natural gas (G20), the oven must be connected to a suitable gas supply system in compliance with applicable regulations.

The connection must be carried out exclusively by qualified personnel, who must verify:

- The oven's compatibility with natural gas.
- The correct gas supply pressure.
- The suitability of the gas installation and connections.
- The integrity and leak-tightness of the system before operation.

Do not connect an oven configured for LPG to a natural gas supply, or vice versa, without first having the appliance's gas configuration professionally checked.

### 📏 What Gas Pressure Does EVO Require?

The required supply pressure depends on the gas type, the oven configuration and the country of installation.

The EVO technical data sheet provides the following reference values:

| Gas type | Pressure stated in the technical data sheet |
| --- | --- |
| LPG (G30/G31) | 30 or 50 mbar, depending on the configuration |
| Natural gas (G20) | 20 mbar |

Permitted supply pressures may vary according to the gas category and national regulations.

**Do not select a regulator based solely on this table.** Before installation, check the specifications on the oven's identification plate and the country-specific pressure table provided in the user manual.

If an adjustable pressure regulator is used, the correct setting must be verified by a qualified technician.

### 🔌 Can You Use the Alfa Forni Gas Connector?

Yes. The EVO user manual includes the option of using the official **Alfa Forni Gas Connector**, available separately.

In this configuration, the corresponding adapter is installed on the oven's gas connection, allowing the quick-connect system provided with the accessory to be used.

Installation must comply with the accessory's instructions and all applicable safety requirements.

Before purchasing, it is advisable to verify that the Gas Connector configuration is compatible with the gas type and destination market.

### ⚠️ What Should Be Checked Before Lighting EVO?

Before lighting the oven for the first time, make sure that:

1. The gas connection has been installed by qualified personnel.
2. The gas category and supply pressure match the oven's specifications.
3. All fittings and connections have been checked.
4. The gas system has successfully passed a leak test.
5. The gas hose is positioned away from hot surfaces.
6. The oven's control knob is in the OFF position before opening the gas supply.

Never disconnect the gas hose or any other gas fittings while the oven is in use.

When EVO is not in use, close the gas supply valve.

### 🚨 What Should You Do If You Smell Gas?

If you suspect a gas leak:

1. **Immediately shut off the gas supply.**
2. Extinguish any open flames.
3. Open the oven door.
4. Contact a qualified gas technician.

Do not use the oven until the issue has been identified and resolved.

Gas leaks may cause fires or explosions, resulting in serious injury or damage to property.
